Habsburg: The tiny Swiss castle which founded Europe

In the center of Switzerland lies a small castle by the name of Habsburg since roughly 1000 years. The Habsburg is the birthplace of one of the most powerful royal dynasties in European history.

Through carefully arranged marriages, shrewd diplomacy and perhaps sheer luck, the House of Habsburg produced the emperors and kings of the Holy Roman Empire, Bohemia, Germany, England, France, Spain, Russia, Portugal and many other countries and territories. All in all, their influence in Europe lasted around 700 years. It all started in this ordinary tiny castle.
