The shortest war in history

On August 25, 1896, the United Kingdom and the Zanzibar Sultanate got in a fight over who should be the next sultan. The fight ended up becoming a war – which lasted around 38 minutes.

The UK won and set up their own sultan, terminating the Zanzibar Sultanate. In the end, the Zanzibar Sultanate had over 500 men killed or wounded, compared to the United Kingdom’s 1 wounded.
