The Secret Language of the Andes

Spoken in the Bolivian Andes, Machaj Juyai is a secret language used by traditional healers known as the Kallawaya to pass healing secrets down to their sons.

The language is thought to have been the language of Inca kings, descended from one of the Amazon languages where the healers collected the ingredients for their cures. Persecuted for many years, the Kallawaya healing knowledge is now highly prized.
